Merging Duplicate

Is there a way to merge duplicates with keep the id of old one? I mean after merge, old link to machine is deleted, I want to keep it or atleast redirect it to the new one, is there a way to do it ? Or you got any good solution for it ?

you can only export the old one before merge i think
